A tribute to a dear friend

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Juan Carlos Lema, in April 2025. He was deeply passionate about his work with individuals, couples, and families, and was a valued colleague, teacher, and supervisor. He was known for his compassion, warmth, and love of music.

Having trained in Colombia as a psychologist, he came to the UK to study systemic psychotherapy and later became a valued teacher at The Kensington Consultation Centre (KCC). Over the decades, he worked in both private and public sector organisations, continuing to teach and share his passion for systemic ideas. Beyond his work in the UK, he also supported victims of trauma in major conflict zones around the world, bringing care, insight, and humanity to those affected by war and displacement.

He will be deeply missed by colleagues, students, and clients alike. We are grateful for the time we spent working alongside Juan and will never forget the contribution he made to family and systemic psychotherapy.
